I recently visited Warri, Delta State, and decided to check the situation myself. What I found is quite revealing, especially considering the current state of fuel pricing in Nigeria.
Why Petrol Prices Keep Rising
As you may already know, fuel subsidy has been completely removed in Nigeria. This change means petrol prices are no longer fixed by the government. Every filling station now determines its own selling price based on logistics, cost of purchase, and location.
Since the removal of the subsidy, many Nigerians have felt the effect in transportation costs and the general rise in prices of goods and services. The high exchange rate of the dollar has also made fuel importation more expensive, which affects retail prices across the country.
How Much Is Petrol Sold in Delta State Today?
During my stay in Delta State, I discovered that most filling stations sell petrol between ₦600 and ₦650 per litre.

Some stations in Warri and Asaba sell for about ₦600 per litre.

A few others in Effurun, Sapele, and Ughelli sell between ₦620 and ₦650 per litre.
While you might find cheaper prices in some remote areas, these are the general rates observed in most filling stations across the state.
It’s important to note that, despite the price hike, there’s no major fuel scarcity in Delta State at the moment. Many stations operate normally, and motorists can buy fuel without long queues.
Final Thoughts
Fuel prices in Nigeria keep changing because of market factors and transportation costs. For now, Delta State’s petrol price remains between ₦600 and ₦650 per litre, depending on the filling station and location.
