WhatsApp had earlier announced that its messenger will no longer support operating systems part of the older generation after the end of the year (December 31, 2016). The company later announced the extension of this deadline to June 30 this year. Now, in another proclamation, the company has extended support for most operating systems.
However, there is still an operating system that will lose WhatsApp support on June 30th. The operating system is Symbian S60 Nokia. This means that all phones that are running on Nokia Symbian S60, WhatsApp will cease working them after June 30, 2017.
Meanwhile, below are latest deadlines for other operating systems, the company said in its blog:
- BlackBerry: OS and BlackBerry 10 after December 31, 2017
- Windows: Phone 8.0 and older after December 31, 2017
- Nokia S40: After December 31, 2018
- Android: Versions 2.3.7 and older after February 1, 2020
