Sammie Okposo died in his sleep, didn’t slump —Management

Hillary Vincent, the project manager of popular gospel singer Sammie Okposo, has denied viral reports that the singer collapsed at his home in Lekki, Lagos on Friday morning, November 25, 2022. Many media reported that after he allegedly collapsed, he was rushed to the hospital where he was pronounced dead.

However, in an exclusive interview with Sunday Scoop, Vincent said, “It is not true that Sammie collapsed and died. That report is false. In due course, the family will set the record straight. But I can tell you with certainty that he did not collapse. Rather, he simply did not wake up from his sleep.

“As for the funeral, the family will announce the details. But for now, they are still in mourning and grieving for the late singer.

The singer was best known for songs like Welu Welu, which was included on his first album Unconditional Love.

Na only You was another popular song that was included on the album No More Drama. The album also featured other gospel singers such as Kefee, Essence, Ige Samsung and Soji Isreal.

Another of his songs, Sing Hallelujah, was released in 2019, but it has continued to make waves, especially in gospel circles.

In 2020, he released Chukwu Ebube, a contemporary Afrocentric worship song that also featured Micheal Stuckey.

Shortly before his death, he held the Sammie Okposo Praise Party in Lagos on November 4, 2022. A day before his death, he posted a throwback video of the concert on his Instagram page. In the video, he can be seen leading the congregation in an intense praise and worship session.

Psalm 121:7-8
"Give thanks to the Lord for He is good: His love endures forever."

Meanwhile, congratulations are piling up for the singer. Richard Mofe-Damijo, a veteran actor, posted a video of the two together. He added the caption, “This was exactly a month ago in the US. We spent two weeks together and got to know each other as men. We ate, drank and, as I am wont to do, teased you. Toks or Jedi drove you to my place and we spent the whole day together.”
