New Age Requirement for University Admissions

The Nigerian Federal Government has introduced a New Age Requirement for University Admissions. Starting next year, students must be at least 18 years old to gain admission to universities. Education Minister Tahir Mamman announced this change on Channels Television’s Sunday Politics.

Examination Regulations

The West African Examinations Council (WAEC) and the National Examinations Council (NECO) will now enforce age limits for their exams. Underage students will not be allowed to register. This move aims to ensure students are appropriately aged for their examinations.

This year, JAMB will accept candidates who are younger than 18. However, from next year, only those who meet the age requirement will be admitted. This policy is meant to align with educational progression and maintain standards.
