DStv Eutelsat Star Awards 2017: Essay & Poster Contest for Young Africans (Fully Funded to Paris, France & South Africa)
Application Deadline: 12 February 2018
Applications are now open for the DStv Eutelsat Star Awards 2017, a joint initiative by Eutelsat and MultiChoice Africa. The awards aim to promote science, technology, and innovation among secondary and high school students across Africa.
Students aged 14-19 from 42 African countries are invited to submit an essay or design a poster illustrating how satellite technology in communication, earth observation, or navigation can drive Africa into the future.
Eligibility & Entry
Open to students aged 14-19 in secondary, high, or combined schools across Africa where MultiChoice operates.
Entries can be submitted in English, French, or Portuguese.
Prizes
National Level:
"Give thanks to the Lord for He is good: His love endures forever."
Top students receive prizes such as computers or tablets and qualify to compete at the continental level.
Overall Winning Entries:
Essay Award:
Trip for the winning student and their parent/guardian to Eutelsat in France, including attendance at a rocket launch.
Poster Award:
Trip for the winning student and their parent/guardian to the MultiChoice offices and the South African Space Agency at Hartbeesthoek.
School Rewards:
Schools of overall winners and runners-up receive a DStv installation, including dish, television, PVR decoder, and free access to the DStv Education Bouquet.
Submission Guidelines
Deposit Entries:
Submit at MultiChoice Africa country or regional offices.
In South Africa: MultiChoice Africa Building, 251 Oak Avenue, Randburg, Johannesburg.
Post Entries:
Send to MultiChoice offices listed on the entry form.
South African entries only: Attention Lebogang Ramothata at MultiChoice Africa, 251 Oak Avenue, Randburg, Johannesburg.
Required Documents:
Entry form for all submissions.
Poster submissions must include a creative summary.
