N-Power Nigeria: Federal Government Initiative

N-Power Nigeria is a Federal Government empowerment programme designed to reduce unemployment, create jobs, and equip citizens with relevant skills for today’s economy. It was introduced as part of the National Social Investment Program to improve the living standards of Nigerian youth.

The Main Objectives of the N-Power Programme

The N-Power scheme has several important goals that directly impact both individuals and communities.

  • First, it aims to reduce poverty and unemployment across Nigeria.

  • Secondly, it focuses on producing skilled individuals who can become employable or self-reliant.

  • Lastly, it seeks to provide practical solutions to challenges in public service and government operations.

By addressing these areas, N-Power helps young Nigerians gain real-world experience, confidence, and opportunities to contribute meaningfully to society.

Categories of the N-Power Programme

To achieve its mission effectively, N-Power is divided into several specialized categories. Each category plays a vital role in national growth and skill development.

1. N-Power Teacher Corps

This category employs and trains 500,000 unemployed graduates to serve in teaching and advisory roles across Nigeria. Moreover, the participants are placed in different educational fields to strengthen community learning.

  • N-Power Teach: Participants serve as assistant teachers in primary and secondary schools, especially in underserved areas. In addition, they help improve literacy and numeracy levels among children.

  • N-Power Health: Volunteers provide essential public health services and receive expert training to support community healthcare systems. Consequently, they help raise awareness about hygiene and disease prevention.

  • N-Power Community Education: Members under this category work as adult educators and literacy instructors in local communities. Therefore, they ensure that learning extends beyond classrooms and into homes.

2. N-Power Agro

The N-Power Agro category connects farmers with researchers to promote better agricultural practices. Furthermore, volunteers act as field extension agents, guiding farmers on new technologies that increase food production. As a result, this initiative strengthens food security across rural areas.

3. N-Power Knowledge

This group focuses on Nigeria’s digital and creative industries. It includes:

  • N-Power Creative

  • N-Power Tech (Hardware & Software)

  • N-Power Build

Each subcategory provides hands-on training in technology and innovation. Consequently, participants gain valuable technical skills that position them for both local and global opportunities.

Psalm 121:7-8
"Give thanks to the Lord for He is good: His love endures forever."

Monthly Stipend and Application Process

Although N-Power Nigeria is not a permanent job, it provides participants with a monthly stipend of ₦23,000. This helps them support themselves while they gain practical skills and work experience. Additionally, once an existing batch completes its term, new graduates are deployed to take over.
