Aisha Muhammadu Buhari, the wife of Nigeria’s President, traveled to the United Kingdom to bring her husband back home. President Buhari has been on medical vacation in London since May 7. According to her office staff, Mrs. Buhari left for the UK on Sunday, as confirmed to Daily Trust on Monday.

The presidency had repeatedly assured Nigerians that the President was responding positively to treatment and would return soon. However, those assurances did not materialize, prompting Mrs. Buhari’s trip to London. Her mission signals urgency in ensuring the President resumes his duties in Nigeria.
Recent Engagements of the First Lady
Before traveling to London, Mrs. Buhari returned to Nigeria last Thursday. She then proceeded to Owerri, Imo State, to attend the 2017 August meeting hosted by women in the state. During this visit, she met with several community leaders and highlighted ongoing support initiatives for women across the country.
Possibility of Returning with the President
Some of her staff hinted that Mrs. Buhari may return to Nigeria with the President at a date yet to be officially confirmed. This move would ensure the President’s timely resumption of duties while maintaining transparency with the public about his health.
