Suspected armed robbers attacked Queens University Ibadan in the early hours of Saturday, leaving one security guard dead. The tragic incident took place at the university’s campus in Apata, Ido Local Government Area of Oyo State.
How the Queens University Robbery Happened
Eyewitnesses reported that the armed robbers stormed the premises around 1 a.m., armed with sophisticated weapons. The security guards on duty tried to resist the attackers, but they were overpowered by the gunfire. Unfortunately, one of the guards was struck by a bullet and died on the spot.
Residents in the area said the robbers fired sporadically, creating panic across the neighbourhood. “They were shooting everywhere. The security men tried, but the robbers had more dangerous weapons,” one resident told reporters.

When contacted, the Oyo State Police Command confirmed the Queens University Ibadan robbery. The state police spokesperson, SP Adewale Osifeso, said investigations are ongoing. “Yes, the incident happened. Our men are already on the case, and we will give more updates soon,” he stated.
