Public Warning: Rising Ritual Killings in Ogun State, Nigeria

Recently, Ogun State has witnessed a disturbing rise in violent crimes and ritual killings. This serves as a public warning from Informationhood to all residents within Ogun and nearby states. Please stay alert and take extra precautions for your safety and that of your family.

Shocking Discovery: University Student Murdered for Ritual

Police in Ogun State have arrested a man accused of murdering an 18-year-old Obafemi Awolowo University (OAU) student, Quadri Salami, and selling his body parts for ₦100,000.

According to the Ogun State Police Command, officers uncovered a shallow grave at Ajebo, Abeokuta, where the victim was buried after being killed for ritual purposes.

How the Crime Was Uncovered

The victim’s father reported him missing on November 8, after several days without contact. Detectives traced a phone signal to Akeem Usman, who was later arrested with the student’s phone.

During interrogation, Usman confessed and implicated another suspect, Ifadowo Niyi. The duo admitted to killing Quadri and dismembering his body for ritual purposes.

Details of the Ritual Activity

Police spokesperson SP Omolola Odutola confirmed that Niyi took Quadri’s head and wrists, then transferred ₦100,000 to Usman as payment. They allegedly sold other body parts to internet fraudsters, buried the heart and legs inside a plastic container for rituals, and used the remaining flesh to prepare charms known as “Awure” (luck charm).

Both suspects also confessed to using four other human heads for a ritual known as “Osole”, believed to attract sudden wealth.

Ongoing Police Investigation

The suspects are now in custody at the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) in Eleweran, Abeokuta, where further investigations are ongoing. Authorities have assured the public that justice will be served and urged residents to report any suspicious activity in their communities.
