Osun APC chair, Famoodun, installed as new monarch

The Chairman of the All Progressives Congress in Osun State, Gboyega Famoodun, was on Tuesday morning appointed the new Owa of Igbajo.

Oba Famoodun succeeded the late Oba Olufemi Fasade, who died in 2020.

In the video of the inauguration released by former Osun State Commissioner for Information and Strategy, Sunday Akere, Famoodun was adorned with the symbolic Akoko leaf as part of the inauguration.

Dressed all in white, Famoodun underwent the necessary installation rites in the early hours of Tuesday morning before being publicly introduced to the locals.

Famoodun’s father, Oba Adelani, had ruled before the last holder of the throne, Oba Fasade.

On Monday, the Osun State government had announced Famodun’s appointment as the new Owa of Igbajo.

The statement reads in part, “Prince Famodun was unanimously selected as the sole candidate of the ruling house of Owa Oke-Ode at a meeting held on November 11, 2022.

“Until his appointment as Owa elect, Prince Adegboyega Famodun, a seasoned politician, was the Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Osun State.

Psalm 121:7-8
"Give thanks to the Lord for He is good: His love endures forever."

“His appointment takes immediate effect.”
