Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) Governor Godwin Emefiele confirmed on Tuesday that President Muhammadu Buhari will unveil the redesigned Naira bills on Wednesday, November 23, 2022.
Emefiele made the announcement at the monthly meeting of the Central Bank’s Monetary Policy Committee in Abuja.
The date for returning the old naira notes to commercial banks in exchange for the newly designed bills will not be postponed, Emefiele said.
It will be recalled that the CBN governor had announced in October that the apex bank would issue newly designed N200, N500 and N1,000 notes from December 15, 2022,
Emefiele, however, indicated on Tuesday that the apex bank would no longer wait until December to introduce the new bills.
