The match began with Barcelona facing an uphill battle after Eric Garcia was sent off just 11 minutes into the game. Garcia fouled Takumi Minamino, leaving Barcelona with 10 players for most of the match. Monaco capitalized on this advantage early, with Maghnes Akliouche scoring in the 17th minute to give the Ligue 1 side the lead.

Despite being a man down, Barcelona showed resilience. Teenage sensation Lamine Yamal equalized in the 29th minute, cutting inside from the right flank and firing a well-placed shot past Monaco’s goalkeeper. His goal made him the second-youngest player to score in Champions League history.

As the game progressed, Monaco continued to pressure Barcelona’s defense. The crucial moment came in the 71st minute when Ilenikhena received a long pass from Vanderson. With Barcelona defender Inigo Martinez trailing behind him, Ilenikhena shot powerfully, and despite Ter Stegen’s touch, the ball found the back of the net.

Barcelona pressed for an equalizer, but Monaco held firm. Folarin Balogun nearly extended the lead for Monaco, but Ter Stegen made a fantastic save. A penalty awarded to Monaco was later overturned after a VAR review.

Monaco’s win leaves them in a strong position in their Champions League group. Ilenikhena’s match-winning performance shows he is a player to watch in Europe.
