EFCC Seizes Patience Jonathan’s ₦2 Billion Abuja Hotel

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has seized a luxury hotel worth ₦2 billion, allegedly belonging to Patience Jonathan, wife of former President Goodluck Jonathan. The hotel is located near Setraco Construction Company, beside the Mabushi-Kado Expressway in Abuja.

The building is massive. It has five floors, 50 to 100 rooms, a gym, and a central fountain. Although the hotel is yet to be officially opened, the EFCC has already taken control as part of an ongoing corruption investigation.

More Properties Under EFCC’s Radar

This hotel is only one of multiple properties linked to Patience Jonathan. EFCC operatives have also taken possession of other buildings in Karsana, Wasa, and Idogwari, all located within the Federal Capital Territory. The anti-graft agency also plans to investigate more properties connected to her in Port Harcourt and Yenagoa.

Related Case: George Turnah and Aide Arrested

The EFCC’s probe stretches beyond the former First Lady. The commission also seized a mansion that belongs to Chidiebere Silas, an aide to George Turnah, who is known as a godson to former President Jonathan.

Turnah, a former special adviser at the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC), faces 12 charges linked to money laundering, fraud, and abuse of office. The case involves more than ₦3 billion.

The court granted Turnah bail for ₦300 million on strict conditions. He must surrender his passport and remain in Nigeria unless he receives court permission to travel. His trial continues on June 30, 2017.

EFCC Deepens Anti-Corruption Fight

The EFCC’s recent actions form part of a wider effort to combat corruption. By targeting top figures and reclaiming mismanaged public funds, the agency continues to make bold statements about accountability and justice in Nigeria.
