Badoo: Women protest at Ikorodu monarchs’ palaces
Lagos— No fewer than 300 women drawn from different communities in Ibeshe, Ikorodu area of Lagos State, yesterday embarked on a peaceful protest to the palace of the two royal fathers, Oba Richard Ogunsanya of Ibeshi land and Oba Kabiru Shotobi of Ikorodu over the continuous killings by the suspected dreaded ritual cultist known as Baddo.
The women, led by the wife of a community leader, Mrs Adelakun Nike, began the protest as early as 7am at the palace of Onibeshe of Ibeshe land before proeceding to the palace of Ayangburen of Ikorodu requesting the traditional rulers find a lasting solution to the killings.
According to them, their communities are deserted due to the continuous killings while commercial activities have been put on hold since the killings started over a year ago.
The protesters displaying placards and photograph of some of the victims of the attacks, saying they no longer sleep in peace with two eyes clossed for the fear of the unknown.
The two royal fathers reacting to the protesters said, they are doing everything withing their reach to find a lasting soluting to the manace while admonishing the women to educate thier children not to engage in jungle justices and corporate with relevant authorities assuring them all will be well.
Suspected cultist have killed many residents with the most recent one been last sunday at Oke-Ota, Ibeshe, where a couple and two children were killed while the third child, five year old Fiyinfoluwa, was raped to coma and has since been hospitalise.
