The All Progressives Congress (APC) has renewed its call for greater inclusion of women in Nigerian politics and governance. The party believes that empowering women will strengthen democracy and national growth.
Women Deserve More Representation
At the APC mini convention held in Zamfara State, a National Officer of the party stressed the need for more female representation. He said women should occupy more political and leadership positions in line with the United Nations Affirmative Action, which recommends at least 35% representation for women.
He added that Nigerian women play vital roles in mobilizing voters, leading community projects, and supporting campaigns. However, they often receive little recognition when it comes to decision-making roles. “It is time to give women equal opportunities to lead,” he said.
Peaceful Convention Across Zamfara
The mini convention took place peacefully in all fourteen local government areas of Zamfara. Party leaders, youth representatives, and women groups attended the event. Discussions focused on fairness, unity, and inclusiveness within the APC.
Delegates also reviewed how female candidates performed in the last elections. They shared new ideas to boost participation in upcoming polls. According to attendees, this approach will help the APC connect better with communities and attract more supporters.
Analysts Praise APC’s Commitment
Political observers have commended the APC for taking a bold step toward gender inclusion. They noted that when women are part of decision-making, issues such as education, health, and family welfare receive better attention.
The APC leadership promised to keep promoting programs that support women in politics. Plans include leadership training, mentorship for young women, and fair inclusion in future elections.
Moving Toward Equality
The party reaffirmed its commitment to fairness, equality, and democratic progress. By creating room for more women in leadership, the APC hopes to inspire a new era of balanced governance in Nigeria.
