Kanu Addresses IPOB Members in Umuahia

Nnamdi Kanu, leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), has made fresh allegations concerning the recent killings at St. Philip’s Catholic Church in Ozubulu, Anambra State.

Kanu spoke while addressing IPOB members who visited him at his residence in Umuahia. During the meeting, he accused leaders of Ohanaeze Ndigbo, the apex Igbo socio-cultural organization, of masterminding the attack.

Dismissal of Drug Feud Narrative

The IPOB leader rejected claims that the killings resulted from a feud between two overseas-based drug barons of Igbo origin. Instead, he described the attack as a deliberate plot to sow division among the Igbo people.

According to Kanu, those responsible aimed to create fear, confusion, and disunity within the region.

Kanu Links Attack to Politics and Elections

Kanu argued that political interests played a major role in the incident. He warned residents of Anambra State against participating in elections, insisting that political leaders have failed to protect the people.

He stated that politicians only seek votes to access monthly federal allocations, not to secure the lives of citizens.

Direct Accusations Against Ohanaeze Ndigbo

Speaking emotionally, Kanu claimed that coordinated attacks had previously occurred in places such as Onitsha and now Ozubulu. He alleged that enemies of the Igbo people exploited divisions between IPOB, state governors, and Ohanaeze leadership.

Psalm 121:7-8
"Give thanks to the Lord for He is good: His love endures forever."

According to him, unity among the Igbo had previously prevented attacks. However, once divisions emerged, he claimed the attackers found an opportunity to strike.

Warning to the Igbo People

Kanu warned that failure to recognize internal threats could lead to more violence. He accused political and cultural leaders of prioritizing personal gain over the safety of the people.

In his concluding remarks, Kanu directly alleged that Ohanaeze Ndigbo bore responsibility for the Ozubulu killings. These claims, he said, should serve as a wake-up call to the Igbo nation.

Claims Remain Allegations

It is important to note that Kanu’s statements remain allegations. Authorities have yet to officially confirm or respond to the claims made by the IPOB leader regarding the tragic church attack.
