Badoo: Women Protest at Ikorodu Monarchs’ Palaces
No fewer than 300 women from different communities in Ibeshe, Ikorodu area of Lagos State, staged a peaceful protest on Wednesday over the continued killings linked to suspected ritual cultists known as Badoo.

Women Demand Immediate Action
The protesters marched to the palaces of two traditional rulers. These included Oba Richard Ogunsanya, the Onibeshe of Ibeshe Land, and Oba Kabiru Shotobi, the Ayangburen of Ikorodu.
Led by Mrs. Adelakun Nike, wife of a community leader, the women began the protest as early as 7:00 a.m. at the palace of the Onibeshe before proceeding to the Ayangburen’s palace.
They called on the monarchs to help find a lasting solution to the ongoing violence that has terrorized their communities for over a year.
Communities Deserted as Fear Spreads
The women said the killings have forced many residents to abandon their homes. As a result, economic and commercial activities have come to a halt in affected areas.
Carrying placards and photographs of victims, the protesters said they no longer sleep peacefully due to constant fear and uncertainty.
Traditional Rulers React
In response, the two monarchs assured the women that they were doing everything possible to address the situation. They promised to work closely with security agencies to restore peace.
"Give thanks to the Lord for He is good: His love endures forever."
The royal fathers also urged parents to educate their children against jungle justice. They encouraged residents to cooperate fully with relevant authorities.
According to them, collective efforts would help bring an end to the menace.
Recent Killings Heighten Tension
Suspected cultists have killed several residents in the area in recent months. The most recent attack occurred last Sunday at Oke-Ota, Ibeshe.
During the incident, attackers killed a couple and their two children. They also raped the third child, five-year-old Fiyinfoluwa, who remains hospitalized in critical condition.
