The Edo State Police Command has arrested four suspects of armed robbery at South Ibie, Agbede, in Etsako West Local Government Area of the state.
Police command spokesman, SP Chidi Nwabuzor, disclosed on Monday that the suspects were arrested on Sunday at their house behind Wonder City in South Ibie, Edo State.
He said, “The Edo State Police Command on Sunday, November 20, 2022, arrested four suspects for armed robbery and unauthorised possession of a firearm, a trimmed locally made pistol, 10 android phones and a motorcycle with registration number GDE 222- VC.
“The arrested suspects are Umar Sanusi (28 years), Saviour Sunday (23 years), Edeh Samuel (18 years) and Ede Monday (23 years). They all reside behind Wonder City, South Ibie, Edo State.
“The arrest was made possible after Divisional Police Officer Agbede and his men together with the local vigilante group laid a well laid ambush that led to the arrest of the first suspect, one Umar Sanusi, who was on a motorcycle with another suspect, one Boniface Junior, who is currently on the run.
Investigations revealed that the motorcycle with licence plate number NO GDE -222- VC had earlier been robbed at gunpoint behind Wonder City by its owner Abdullahi Nufu.
“A search warrant executed at the suspects’ premises led to the recovery of the cut, locally made pistol, android phones and the arrest of the three other suspects,” he added.
According to Nwabuzor, the Commissioner of Police, Mohammed Dankwara, ordered the immediate transfer of the case to the state Criminal Investigation Department for speedy investigation and prosecution of the case

The CP also instructed the relevant investigators and the surveillance unit of the police command to ensure that the fugitive suspect Boniface Junior is arrested and brought to justice as soon as possible.
