Terrorists withdraw threat to kill hijacked passengers – Mamu

Mamu, who had the privilege of opening a channel of communication with the terrorists through one of their leaders, Abu Barra, said on Saturday evening, “I can confirm with certainty that the earlier threat to stop feeding the over 60 hijacked passengers of the Abujato Kaduna train and the threat to commence execution of the victims was successfully withdrawn on Saturday afternoon.

It was confirmed that with the active support and interest of the security agencies, Mamu was able to establish the whereabouts of her eight children and eventually provide the terrorists with proof of the lives and existence of her children, a development that has helped restore confidence.

Mamu has confirmed that a temporary ceasefire has been agreed with the kidnappers, allowing the government to take action.

“As a result of a serious and open conversation, they have agreed to continue to take care of their victims and provide them with medical care, which they say they have already done. They have also withdrawn their threat to kill them by Monday. I believe this is an important milestone made possible by Almighty Allah to assist not only the innocent victims but also their relatives.”

” I can confirm to you that our security agencies are concerned and willing to ensure the release of the victims in safety. What we have published before has encouraged them to do more. Nigerians should continue to pray and stop politicising this delicate matter. We must realise that the lives of innocent citizens are at stake.”

“But it is important to say frankly that during our conversation, they were very categorical about the terms of the withdrawal of their earlier threat. They said they would give the government two weeks from Monday, May 30, to see if they would release their children before holding talks that could lead to the release of some of their victims.”

“In the absence of any alternative, I urge the government to do what is necessary as soon as possible because many of the victims have serious health problems and you know that we are in the rainy season.”

“My decision to accept the mediation efforts is purely on humanitarian grounds and as part of Sheikh Dr. Ahmad Gumi’s sacrifice and commitment to contribute to lasting peace and security throughout the north, especially the northwest.

Psalm 121:7-8
"Give thanks to the Lord for He is good: His love endures forever."

“Given this encouraging development, it remains to be seen how the government will respond to ensure the immediate release of the abducted victims who have now spent two months in captivity.”
