The answer is Yes but depending on where you’re buying it from and your budget. Recently dollar has skyrocketed from 800 it was to 1600. This has made all imported items very expensive. So getting a laptop can’t be considered cheap anymore. There are different types of laptops and their prices as well.
Why do people buy used laptops?
Two reasons people go for foreign-used laptops such as UK-used laptops and US-used laptops are affordability and quality. It’s known that laptops made for these two nations usually used to be very efficient and reliable. How about the price, it’s clearly shown that you can save up to 70% when you buy a UK or US used compared to the price of the new one. This is why people prefer to go for US or UK-used laptops.
Note that a lot of vendors in Nigeria are no longer trustworthy. Why did I say that? A lot of the vendors are just into profit and not providing quality products to their customers. Yes! I have seen it several times when vendors import laptops from Dubai instead of the UK or the US. Some vendors can also patch laptops for you and in a few months, it’ll spoil. This isn’t the game or how it was supposed to be but greedy dealers made it seem right to their face. Let’s get to how you can buy a quality laptop that will serve you 100% and last you decades.
When you’re looking for a computer to buy, don’t only judge by the look or by the fact that it’s in a carton. 90% of laptops from Dubai are very neat almost like new, do you know what makes them that new? They’re properly sprayed so the customer would think it neat and fall for it. But why do I have a problem with laptops from Dubai this much? You see those items from Dubai are 60% refurbished and the 30% inferior clone of the brand and just 10% that you’ll get a good product. These Indians and other Asian guys in Dubai are good at what they do to make the laptop look good to you but it won’t be too long before you make a friend with a computer Engrs. My advice is to stay away from refurbished laptops if you won’t like to explain tire.
How do you know of refurbished laptops from Dubai?
Me I don’t want to call names but they’re over there on Google’s first pages with neat laptops that look like new and they’re called UK used, friend truth be told they’re refurbished. If you fall for the trap you’ll start enjoying the result in few months from now. Not all of them are bad laptops ooo, but the truth remains they’re plenty. So what will be my advice? Okay, I will start by asking you “Don’t you have friends who have bought laptops before?” If not then I will give you my honest recommendation of where we have bought over 60 laptops for my company and we haven’t experienced anything like issues. Some are over 3years now and still counting, no engineer touch yet. I will drop their contact and website below.
How to make your laptop last and serve you well.
Note that even if you buy directly from the brand company office, bad maintenance crashes and damages it in just a few months. Some people have bad management of their products, some careless attitude can destroy a laptop in no time and you’ll start blaming it on dealers. Let me get it straight with you so you’ll know what to do and what not to do.
- Don’t allow little kids to play with your PC. It’ll do you no good especially kids under 2years. But if you want to learn from experience you can try it.
- Avoid using your computer on top bed or chairs. Get your working space inside your house, set a little office table somewhere far from kids’ access or higher enough from their access, and have your PC there whenever you want to make use of it. Beds and foam chairs can cause unnecessary heat and lead to damage or your laptop mather board.
- Avoid liquor from touching your laptop. Some people even place wine or a glass of water on top their laptops. Also stepping in the rain with your laptop. When you’re wet, you shouldn’t go close to your laptop. You’ll either spoil the keyboard or the motherboard itself.
- Avoid draining your laptop battery. Some persons can use a laptop till the battery is completely drained. Sooner than you thought that battery that used to last you 4hrs will reduce to 30 minutes.
- Don’t use manual off: so many people find the manual way the easiest way to turn off their laptop which is holding the power button for a while. This will crash your hard drive and you’ll lose all your files and work inside that hard drive.
- Don’t hit your laptop on the floor. Some people are just good at throwing their laptop to the desk or even with the bag on the floor. Soon such a person will notice the laptop will not turn on or even not load to Windows because of hard shifting.
