AGAIN, SOME NIGERIAN SOLDIERS HAVE BEEN KILLED IN A BATTLE WITH BOKO HARAM
According to an army report, nine Nigerian soldiers and a civilian have been killed during an operation to free ten people abducted by the popular militant Islamic group known as Boko Haram.
The abducted geologists and surveyors worked at the University of Maiduguri, and were highly respected individuals in both the academic and social circles, according to the report.
The ten were contracted by the state-run oil firm to work on oil exploration in the region when they were captured by Boko Haram. The abducted group of geologists and surveyors were rescued during the battle with the Islamic group, which led to the death of the nine Nigerian Soldiers.
According to a BBC news, at least 20,000 people have been killed and thousands more abducted since Boko Haram launched its insurgency in 2009 in Nigeria. Its renewed attacks in Nigeria have brought back fears, shocks and the feeling of insecurity among the citizens. The question on every lip is, who is truly safe in the country?
