Massive power outage at Murtala Muhammed Int’l Airport

The entire Murtala Muhammed Int’l Airport (MMIA) in lagos has been plunged into darkness since saturday evening. This has resulted in passengers arriving and disembarking brandishing torchlights for illumination.

Passengers of KLM airline used torchlights to board the plane while staffs of British Airways and Lufthansa used light from their phones and torches to screen passengers.

A source described the situation as an embarrassment to Nigeria and that some of the passengers were visiting Nigeria for the first time.

Passengers used ramps to disembark from planes and some where made to undress for screening by security agents.

On sunday, it was observed that some airlines were bringing in generator sets to power their ramp offices.
