Four people, including two soldiers, have been slain by rampaging gunmen in Benue State’s Agatu Local Government Area. The assailants are thought to be armed herders.
According to reports, the armed men invaded Abugbe, Okokolo, Ugboju, Odugbeho, and Olegobidu before carrying out the attack.
After learning that the armed herdsmen had ambushed the two soldiers stationed in the council area on official patrol, City Round was notified. The troops were shot and killed.
Some locals told our correspondent that after the gunmen relocated to Okokolo and started attacking people, the attacks, which had started a few days before, got harsher.
On Friday, two local government executives who are political leaders verified the attack and death.
