The management of Ibom Airlines Limited has added two Airbus A320-200 aircraft to its fleet as new aircraft to meet the demands of the holiday season.
The aircraft, which arrived over the weekend, were procured from GetJet Airlines UAB (doing business as GETJET), a European aircraft leasing company, under a one-year wet lease agreement.
This is according to a statement by the airline’s general director of marketing and communications, Aniekan Essienette.
The airline’s chief operating officer, George Uriesi, said the wet lease agreement is a bridging measure to meet current demand and accommodate growth, adding that delivery of Ibom Air’s ten brand new A220-300s is scheduled to begin in the second half of 2023.
According to the statement, the delivery of ten brand-new Airbus A220-300s was agreed in November 2021 at the Dubai Airshow.
The statement said, “With this new capacity, we are pleased to announce to our passengers that we have increased our services and provide more frequencies for them.
“The Uyo-Lagos and Uyo-Abuja routes will now be served three times every weekday, while our passengers will have a choice of seven flights in both directions between Lagos and Abuja every weekday.”
The statement added that the new flight schedules will take effect from November 23 to meet the demand during the holiday season.
