Informationhood wish to inform all Ogun state resident that the Ogun Government has declared October 3, 2016, public holiday in Osun to mark the Islamic New Year, 1438.

Explanation from Adeoti stated that the holiday was to commemorate the Islamic New Year, 1438 AH (After Hijrah).
He also included that all residents in the state should pleases felicitate with one another and imbibe the lessons of the Hijrah for their spiritual development.
Further more the secretary to the Ogun state government wished all Islamic faithful and the entire residents of the state, a happy celebration.

The lunar month of Muharram, which is the first month of the Islamic calendar, begins on Oct. 3.
We understand that Islamic year started counting in 622 AD just after the emigration of the Prophet Muhammad from Mecca to Medina in Saudi Arabia.
You should also know that Gov. Rauf Aregbesola had adopted the day as official public holiday in the state on Nov. 15, 2012 as well.
