Osun Local Government Pensioners: We’re Owed One Year Arrears Of Pension
Retirees of the Local Government Councils in Osun state on Thursday had declared that the state owed them one year of pension, and that the non payment of their benefits have made life unbearable for most of them.
Lanre Fadahunsi the Coordinator, Forum of Local Government Retirees, while addressing newsmen in Osogbo, demanded immediate payment of the money owed them, due to the untold hardships which non payment of their pensions is causing their members.
He however accused the company and banks dealing with the disbursement of pensions in Osun State of intentionally delaying paying native authorities retirees, though he stated that members of the group have declined permitting outsiders to politicise the scenario.
“But we can’t proceed to undergo in silence”, he added. “Our individuals are dying. We request for a public show of the monetary place of the native authorities within the state within the spirit of Freedom of Information invoice.
“Our members have suffered untold hardship as a result of the stated modulated fee being given to us. Pensions aren’t purported to be deductible as a result of it holds physique and soul collectively.
“Most instances, different class of pensioners could be paid, and native authorities retirees wouldn’t be paid. We can’t proceed to undergo in silence.
“The fund getting used to pay state pensioners, from findings, belongs to the native authorities. However the problem of Joint Account has denied us entry to what statutorily belongs to us, and the event is having destructive results on us as senior residents,” Fadahunshi concluded.
