The Edo State election was earlier postponed for security season. According the INEC statement before now, the election was first postponed to take place on September 28th 2016.
We wish to inform you that INEC has reschedule the Edo State election to hold on the initial date Saturday September 10th 2016.
According Speaking Thursday after a stakeholders meeting and consideration of the security report, the INEC National Commissioner in charge of Voter Education, Mr Solomon Soyebi, said “The Edo State governorship election will go ahead on Saturday, Sept. 10 as scheduled”.
Soyebi, who addressed presses in conference held at INEC’s office in Benin, said “We have therefore weighed all the consequences of a postponement in the election and have resolved to go ahead with the conduct of the election on Saturday as scheduled”.
